Comparison of Green Technologies for Valorizing Sugar Beet Leaves (Beta vulgaris L.)

چکیده
This study is focused on the valorization of sugar beet leaves (Beta vulgaris L.), a prominent by-product wasted during process sugar. For doing so, Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE), Pressurized Liquid (PLE), and Maceration (ME) methods were compared by evaluating extraction yield, Total Phenolic Compounds (TPC), Flavonoid Content (TFC), individual phenolic profile, antioxidant activity (e.g., DPPH, FRAP, ABTS). Ethanol water (70% V/V) employed as extracting solvents. The TPC for UAE PLE was 4.90±0.083 6.46±0.33 (mg GAE/mL), respectively, differing significantly (P<0.05) from each other. Moreover, TFC in method highest with 1.45±0.06 mg QE/mL (P<0.05). extracts different yielded quantities. Benzoic acid present only extracts, while ME recovered quantity syringic (0.35±0.00 mg/L) pyrogallol (74.80±0.01 mg/L), respectively. However, yield obtained (19.58±0.33%) had significant statistical difference other methods. Therefore, despite higher reached method, it proved that yields polyphenolic compounds lower leaves.

Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.).
Creating transgenic plants is invaluable for the genetic analysis of sugar beet and will be increasingly important as sugar beet genomic technologies progress. A protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of sugar beet is described in this chapter. Our protocol is optimized for a sugar beet genotype that performs exceptionally well in tissue culture, including the steps of dedifferentia...
متن کاملA morphogenetic crop model for sugar-beet (Beta vulgaris L.)
This paper is the instructions for the proceeding of the International Symposium on Crop. Sugar beet crop models have rarely taken into account the morphogenetic process generating plant architecture despite the fact that plant architectural plasticity plays a key role during growth, especially under stress conditions. The objective of this paper is to develop this approach by applying the Gree...
متن کاملCharacterization of Blue-Green Fluorescence in the Mesophyll of Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) Leaves Affected by Iron Deficiency.
The mesophyll of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) leaves emits red (chlorophyll a) fluorescence and blue-green fluorescence when excited with ultraviolet light. The intensity of blue-green fluorescence was increased in mesophylls affected by iron deficiency. This increase was large and progressive. It was concomitant with a decrease of photosynthetic pigments per unit of leaf area. Most of the inc...
متن کاملProteomic Profiling of Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris) Leaves during Rhizomania Compatible Interactions
Rhizomania, caused by Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV), severely impacts sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) production throughout the world, and is widely prevalent in most production regions. Initial efforts to characterize proteome changes focused primarily on identifying putative host factors that elicit resistant interactions with BNYVV, but as resistance breaking strains become more prevale...
متن کاملChlorophyll Fluorescence and Photon Yield of Oxygen Evolution in Iron-Deficient Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) Leaves.
The response of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) leaves to iron deficiency can be described as consisting of two phases. In the first phase, leaves may lose a large part of their chlorophyll while maintaining a roughly constant efficiency of photosystem II photochemistry; ratios of variable to maximum fluorescence decreased by only 6%, and photon yields of oxygen evolution decreased by 30% when ch...
